COURSE

SWIM

The 1.9 km swim course will be a point to point ocean swim inside Praia da Vitória’s bay with a mass start at Praia da Riviera.

BIKE

One single-loop 90 km bike course with fabulous ocean and nature views. A paradisiac course that you will never forget and that you will like for sure to repeat in the following years. Elevation gain of +1.210m.

RUN

The four loops of the 21.1 km run course will start and finish in the Marginal Promenade with a fabulous ocean view. The course is completely flat.

AID STATIONS

SWIM

Water station right after the swim before going into transition

BIKE

Aid stations at 14Km, 30Km, 45Km, 60Km, 75 Km (energy bars, water filled bike bottles, bananas, oranges)

RUN

Aid stations at the start and middle of each 5k run lap (Isotonic Drink, Cola, Water, Gel, Bananas, Oranges)

RECOVERY ZONE:

After you finish the race we’ll have Water, Beer, Cola, Fruit, Chips, Bread, Meat, Pastries and Pizza

The pasta Party will take place on May 11 (Saturday evening) between 19h30m and 21h30m. All details will be forward to you upon registration.

If you did not get a ticket once you have registered, you will be able to buy tickets at the Race Office.

CANCELLATIONS

All cancellations must be made by contacting our race office at info@azorestriathlon.com

• 50% refund of the entry fee if you withdraw until February 09, 2019
• 25% refund of the entry fee if you withdraw until March 31, 2019
• No refunds will be offered from April 01, 2019

We will not make any exceptions for athletes that can provide a medical certificate.

Location?

The event venue it's located in Praia da Vitória at Ilha Terceira (Terceira island in the Azores Archipelago).
The GPS coordinates of the transition area and finish line are: 38°43'33.58"N and 27°3'43.35"W


How to travel to Terceira Island in the Azores?

The region is served by the International Airport of Lajes, located only five minutes away from Praia da Vitória the race venue.
There will be direct flights from Lisbon and Oporto as well from the USA and Canada.Airlines flying directy to Terceira are: Ryanair, TAP and Sata (Azores Airlines).
You can also reach Terceira via Ponta Delgada Airport (in São Miguel Island). From Lisbon to Ponta Delgada besides the a/m companies you can also fly with EasyJet.


How far is Praia da Vitória from the Lajes Airport?

Just 5,1km by the Highway called Via Rápida (no tolls apply).

Does the registration includes airport transfers?

In case you pay your race registration until February 28 you will be entitled for a free transfer (only applies for hotels in Praia da Vitória) from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the airport (bike and travel companions are included).

What are the distances?

Swim: 1.9 Km (point to point ocean swim)
Bike: 90 Km (1 loop)
Run: 21,1 Km (4 loops of 5 275m)


Is there a minimum age?

Yes, athletes must be 20 on race day.


How do I know the age group that I am in?

You will compete as the age you will be on 31st December of 2019.


Are there cut-off times?

Yes. These will be:
Swim: 01h00m
Swim + Bike: 05h30m
Finish: 08h30m


How many loops does the swim have?

The swim course is a 1.9km point to point ocean swim, starting at Praia da Riviera and ending at Praia de Sargentos (along the Marginal Promenade).


Are wetsuits allowed?

Yes, wetsuits are allowed until a water temperature of 24,5° Celcius.


How is the swim start?

There will be a mass start at Praia da Riviera. Athletes are advised to place themselves realistically according to their swim capabilities. Only fast swimmers should choose the start front line.


The swim exit is very far from the transition area?

No. You will have to run only 200m to reach transition.


If I need assistance in the swim, what shall I do?

If you feel the need for assistance, please turn on your back and raise an arm in the air to attract attention from the swim safety crew.


What shall I do in case I have to drop out from the race?

If you have to drop out from the race, you shall inform one of our referees or officials directly. For safety reasons it is very important that you comply with this requirement.


Will there be a relay entry?

Yes. There will be relays either with two athletes (one of the athletes will compete in two segments) or with three athletes.


Can my friends or family run down the finish line with me?

Yes. However please bear in mind that you can be disqualified if you or someone of your friends or family interfere with the finish of any other competitor.


Can I get a full refund if I provide a medical certificate?

No. No exceptions will be made for athletes that can provide a medical certificate.
